What is Toronto Carnival?

Toronto Carnival, officially known as the Toronto Caribbean Carnival and commonly called Caribana, is North America's largest Caribbean festival. Held annually in Toronto every summer, it draws over a million visitors from around the world for three weeks of parades, concerts, pool parties, nightlife events, and cultural celebrations rooted in Caribbean tradition. The festival has been running since 1967 and is one of the largest cultural events in North America.

When is Toronto Carnival 2026?

Toronto Carnival Weekend 2026 runs Thursday, July 30th through Monday, August 3rd, 2026. The Grand Parade — the centrepiece of the festival — takes place on Saturday, August 1st along Lakeshore Boulevard.

Where does Toronto Carnival take place?

Toronto Carnival events take place throughout downtown Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area. The Grand Parade runs along Lakeshore Boulevard West and ends at Exhibition Place. Nightlife events and pool parties are spread across venues in the downtown core, with some events like Soca Village and Carnival Kingdom held at the Markham Fairgrounds and Pickering Casino Resort.

Is Toronto Carnival free?

Most of the Grand Parade along Lakeshore Boulevard is free to watch. Several family events including Junior Carnival, Pan Alive, and Carnival Village are also free to attend. Ticketed events include nightlife parties, pool parties, concerts like Carnival Kingdom and Legends, and premium experiences like Daylit and Sunday Blocko.

What is the difference between Caribana and Toronto Carnival?

They are the same event. The City of Toronto officially rebranded the festival to "Toronto Caribbean Carnival" several years ago, but most people still refer to it as Caribana — a name that has been part of Toronto's culture since 1967. You'll see both names used interchangeably.

What is Carnival Weekend Pass?

A Weekend Pass gives you access to 25+ Toronto Carnival events — including pool parties, nightlife events, and concerts — for one price starting from $110. It's the most cost-effective way to experience the full weekend. All passes are sold with no taxes and no service fee

What is the difference between a Weekend Pass and a Hotel Package?

A Weekend Pass covers your event tickets only. A Hotel Package bundles 2, 3, or 4 nights at a downtown Toronto hotel with event tickets included — starting from $390 per person. Hotel Packages are ideal if you're traveling from out of town and want everything sorted in one booking.

What is the Toronto Carnival Grand Parade?

The Grand Parade is the highlight of Toronto Carnival weekend, held on Saturday August 1st, 2026 along Lakeshore Boulevard. Thousands of masqueraders from dozens of Mas Bands parade in elaborate hand-crafted costumes to the sounds of soca and calypso. Most of the parade route is free to watch as a spectator.

What is a Toronto Carnival Mas Band?

A Mas Band is a group that designs and produces elaborate carnival costumes and marches together in the Grand Parade. Joining a Mas Band — known as "playing mas" — means you wear a costume and dance down the parade route with your band. Registration typically opens in spring and bands vary in size, theme, and costume style.

What should I wear to Toronto Carnival?

For the parade and daytime events, light and comfortable clothing is recommended — it's August in Toronto and can get hot. For nightlife events and pool parties, dress codes vary by event. Check the individual event pages for details.

How do I get around during Toronto Carnival weekend?

Public transit is strongly recommended. The TTC and GO Train both service the Exhibition Place area where the Grand Parade ends. Road closures are in effect on parade day along Lakeshore Boulevard from midnight Saturday through Sunday morning. PRESTO Card holders get a 20% discount on transit to carnival events.

Are Toronto Carnival events 19+?

Most nightlife events and pool parties are 19+. Family events including the Grand Parade, Junior Carnival, Pan Alive, King & Queen Show, and Carnival Village are all-ages. Revivor is one of the few all-ages concert events during the weekend.

How Hotel Packages Work

4 simple steps to book your Toronto Carnival Weekend.

1. Select your Hotel Package

We offer 2, 3, and 4 night packages that can accommodate between 2 - 4 guests each. Prices are listed per person.

You have the option of choosing between Exclusive and Value packages.

The Exclusive package has a larger selection of nightlife events and includes pool parties and Carnivale Music Festival
The Value package offers a smaller selection of 1 event per day only

Note: Bedding types and details can be found under Room Detail. Bedding types cannot be changed once selected, so please be sure you review and confirm these details for your selected hotel package prior to checkout.

2. Select your Event Tickets & check-in date

Each hotel package includes event tickets for each night of your stay. E-tickets will be sent out on July 20th, 2026.

To assist you in choosing your 2026 events, you can view last year’s events by clicking here. Information on this year’s venues and guest appearances will be released in Spring 2026.

3. Enter the names of your Group Members

If you are purchasing your package as a group and would like to allow each of your group members to pay for their portion of the room individually, please select one Group Leader to confirm their payment first.

Your Group Leader will then input the rest of your group members’ names. The group leader will then receive a unique Group ID number and unique website payment link to forward to the other group members. To ensure to book your room as a group, you must pay via your unique Group payment link.

Please be advised that All prices are subject to change as we approach Caribana 2026. Hotel packages with limited quantities may be subject to daily price increases. This applies to new purchases and groups with outstanding individual payments. Prices are NOT locked in for outstanding group members and any outstanding payments will be subject to price increases.

4. Review payment quantity

You can choose to pay for more than one group member by selecting the quantity number. For example, you can update the quantity to 3 to pay for all portions of a triple package (3 people). If it is only yourself that you are paying for, keep the default quantity at 1.

The group leader will then be sent a Group ID and unique payment link for the other group members to pay at.

Once checkout is complete, please take down your Sales Order Number. This is your receipt number that can be used by Customer Service Representatives to look up your transaction in our system.
