Carnival Village @ Sankofa Square Nightclub
Carnival Village is a community celebration of masquerade, music, dance and storytelling that will take place in Toronto's Sankofa Square on August 1st and 2nd.
The festival is a family-friendly event and will engage all ages, in particular youth, in a series of workshops, concerts and street theatre to encourage creativity and self-expression. The festivals activities are designed to foster a deeper understanding of the artistic and cultural value of the Carnival Arts and to raise awareness of Carnival's role as a social custom and cultural celebration.
The Carnival Village will bring together members of the community with professional mas costume designers, dance instructors, drum circle facilitators and storytellers - to create social music and community performance art. The festival seeks to partner with local organizations and groups to come together to create a spectacular celebration through cultural exchange.
