CHUTNEY IN DE PARK - 2nd Annual Guyanese & Trini Family Picnic @ Bella Gardens
If you're looking for a full-day Caribana event the whole family can enjoy without having to venture all the way downtown, check out the 2nd Annual Chutney In De Park Guyanese & Trini Family Picnic on Sunday, August 1st , just north of Toronto.
Trinidad is the birth place of carnival which, along with Guyanese culture, helped inspire Toronto's Caribana Festival in the first place. The cultures, food and music (steel pan & chutney soca music) of Trinidad and Guyana continue to have influence on the modern day Caribana festival and the 2010 Chutney in De Park has the distinction of celebrating and sharing these two cultures with Canadian families.
Chutney in De Park also tours around other Canadian and American cities and has become one of Caribana’s largest family picnics and now features a cooking contest, speed eating competition, softball tournament, car show, free parking, free rides for the kids and over 30 live performers: soca, chutney, calypso, steel pan and rhythm -tassa bands.
Come with friends or bring the entire family to Bella Gardens - 12700 Jane St. in King City on Sunday August 1st starting at 1pm for the Chutney in De Park 2010 Caribana family picnic.

False advertising and greed is no surpriise and very diasspointing I guess with the event starting so late half of the acts did not get a chane to preform I along with others were all sick of listening to the music instead of seeing the acts. Not surprising but I know a huge group of us who have decided to never go back and we will all give the picnic a permanent MISS. Felt really sorry for the group that came from New York and had to be turned back bacause of a $20..00 charge at the gates. What an impression they must have left with. SO SAD

Poorly organized event. I agree with the previous post regarding the misleading entrance fee. It's posted as $10 on this site when in fact the tickets cost $12 advance, $20 at the gate. They state the start time as 1:00 pm but the main acts didn't take the stage until 6:00 pm. Then when the party was jumping, they abruptly pulled the plug at 9:45 with no clear explanation given. Less than half the advertised acts took the stage but even if the event ended on time they never would have had a chance to perform. Misleading advertising from start to finish and it's about time these promoters deliver on their promise. They will not be getting my money again next year.
